How to Cook Rice with Coconut Oil to Burn More Fats and Absorb Half the Calories

Rice is an ingredient we all use to prepare various salty and sweet dishes. This delicacy is cheap, it is very tasty and you can buy it anywhere!

Americans are a nation which consumes a lot of rice. That’s why rice is one of the main causes why they gain weight and become obese.

Foods which contain rice are rich in starch and starch is known to increase the chances of diabetes. Only one cup of cooked rice has 240 calories. That starch becomes sugar which later becomes fat.

According to a recent study from the College of Chemical Sciences in Sri Lanka, you can actually eat rice while at the same time you’ll only absorb half of the calories, but also burn fat! What they did is they only added some coconut oil into the rice! This has been proved to be very successful to cut the absorption of calories for up to 50%.

How does it work

You should first boil the water in a pan. Then, add a teaspoon of coconut oil in the water. Put the rice inside. You should leave it simmer until the rice is fully cooked. After that remove it from the stove and leave it to rest in the fridge for 12 hours. You can consume it after this period has passed.

If you cook rice like this, you’ll manage to increase the resistant starch content as well as raise the RS capacity of the white rice. That will make the rice excellent for diabetics or people who are obese.

Why is it useful

While the rice is being cooked, the coconut oil is absorbed by the starch grains absorb. In that way, sugars become resistant to digestive enzymes. The 12 hour process of cooling is also very important because it stimulates the appearance of a process that is called ‘gel’ amylase. When rice releases starch which, it later engages to the molecules that are outside the rice. At that time, the gained rice sugar is transformed into resistant starch. You can heat the rice again which isn’t allowed when rice is cooked in the way we all know because cooking it with coconut oil won’t interfere with the chemical composition.

Still, it isn’t proved yet which type of rice is better. Scientists should still discover whether there are other types of oils which can also act as the coconut oil does. This combination is much healthier than cooking it as we all do, but you should still know that rice isn’t that healthy as most people think. Try to consume more foods rich in fiber: mushrooms sweet potatoes, squash, barley and green vegetables.
