Study Finds Stevia Kills Lyme Disease Pathogen Better Than Antibiotics

One of the most complicated diseases to treat is definitely Lyme disease. It’s mostly because of its ability that changes their shape very fast. Doctors as well as allopathic medical practitioners find it very difficult to cure.

According to some studies almost 300,000 people are diagnosed with this disease only in the USA every year. It doesn’t matter where people are geographically, but most of the cases of Lyme disease can be found in the upper Midwest and Northeast within 14 different USA states.

Doctors usually prescribe conventional antibiotics which don’t offer the desired effect and treat the disease. What about a natural remedy that will be more effective and safer for you?

According to a recent study from the European Journal of Microbiology and Immunology Stevia is one of the things that can cure even the toughest cases of chronic Lyme disease.

According to the CDC, 80-90% of the cases should be treated with conventional antibiotics, but 10-20% of Lyme disease patients develop the disease chronically. When this disease becomes chronic it is devastating to any organ, including the nervous system and the brain.

Borrelia burgdorferi is the spirochete bacterium which causes Lyme disease. The antibiotics that kill this particular bacterium include amoxicillin and doxycycline. Still, you should know that this bacterium can be also found in morphological forms like round bodies, biofilms, spirochetes and spheroplast (or L-form). When there are unfavorable conditions for the bacteria, it goes into a dormant round body which later hides in a biofilm form. Whenever the conditions become favorable, it can still go back to its own spirochete form.

According to a study on Stevia, “Effectiveness of Stevia Rebaudiana Whole Leaf Extract Against the Various Morphological Forms of Borrelia Burgdorferi in Vitro” by researchers from the Department of Biology and Environmental Science at the University of New Haven in West Haven, Connecticut, the extract from Stevia was connected to removing all of the morphological forms of B. burgdorferi.

The leaf extract from Stevia is full of various many phytonutrients and antimicrobial agents. During this particular study, the stevia extracts and its antimicrobial effects were compared to daptomycin, cefoperazone, doxycycline and any possible combination of these antibiotics. It was proved to be able to destroy any form of the bacteria that cause Lyme disease. There were 4 tested extracts. 1 was the most powerful according to the used agricultural practices and growing conditions.

The extract from stevia was even effective against the biofilm which is considered to be the most antibiotic-resistant of the bacteria. All of the antibiotics used conventionally didn’t manage to eliminate the biofilm, but they only increased it.

There should still be some other studies on various ingredients to see whether something else can be also used to treat the chronic form of Lyme disease. The Stevia extract could also help in other health problems like decreasing the amount of blood sugar in patients with type II diabetics as well as decrease the high blood pressure.
