Here Is Everything You Should Know About Thyroid Disorders! (Signs, Symptoms, Causes, and Natural Remedies!)

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located on the front part of the neck and is responsible for secreting important hormones in the blood which regulate our growth, metabolism and energy levels. The thyroid often suffers from thyroid disorders which have become quite common nowadays – according to statistics, they affect about 1 in every 20 people, and are more common in women. There are two main types of thyroid disorders – hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.

Both conditions are caused by hormonal imbalance – hypothyroidism is a result of low levels of thyroid hormones in the blood, while hyperthyroidism is caused by excess thyroid hormones secreted in the blood.

The main symptoms of hypothyroidism are weight gain, muscle pain and cramps, difficult focusing, hair loss and sensitivity to cold. On the other hand, hyperthyroidism can cause anxiety, irregular heartbeat, weight loss, diarrhea, sleeping disorders and sensitivity to high temperatures.

When the thyroid works “overtime”, it may lead to a lump in the throat known as goiter, which is often associated with iodine deficiency. The main culprits for hyper and hypothyroidism are stress, heavy metal buildup in the body, iodine deficiency and toxic overload. Hypothyroidism can also be caused by Hashimoto’s, thyroid removal and lithium and iodine overexposure, while hyperthyroidism can be triggered by Graves’ disease, toxic adenoma or thyroiditis.

Here are some tips that can help you prevent thyroid disorders:

Saunas and heat therapies work great for detoxifying your body of toxins. This will clean your body completely and help you treat thyroid disorders easier.

Dealing with your stress is essential if you want to treat hypo or hyperthyroidism. Try some breathing exercises or yoga to lower your stress levels and relax.

Regular exercise

Exercising at least 3 times a week is vital in order to resolve any kind of thyroid problems. Exercise will balance the levels of hormones in your blood and allow your thyroid to work properly.

Prevent the underlying causes of thyroid problems

By addressing the underlying causes of thyroid disorders such as inflammation, you can prevent the problems from occurring. Deal with your stress, clean the body of toxins and reduce the consumption of gluten-rich and inflammatory foods to prevent hyper and hypothyroidism and keep your thyroid gland functioning properly.
